The G7 FSOI working group has released their priority topics for cooperation in 2025. The meeting, held at the National Research Council in Rome, Italy from 29-31 October, reviewed 2024 priority topics and agreed to focus 2025 efforts to strengthen national actions and international cooperation for:
- Augmented observing and forecasting for marine life
- Arctic Ocean observing
- Digital twins of the Ocean capacity
- Global Ocean monitoring indicators
- Governance, coordination, and sustained funding for the observing system
- Ocean carbon
- OneArgo
- Marine research infrastructures integration and harmonization
- Support for the World Ocean Assessment.
The co-chairs of the initiative for 2025 are Canada, which holds the current G7 presidency, and France, which will hold the G7 presidency in 2026.
