On November 25, the EU Coordination Centre of the G7 FSOI co-hosted a meeting with the International Ocean Carbon Coordination Project (IOCCP) / GOOS Biogeochemistry Panel to discuss the fundamentals of a strategy for a Global Ocean Surface CO2 Monitoring System.
The meeting, held at the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, brought together 17 experts from 10 countries to discuss the scope of the strategy, including engagement with users from multiple sectors, observing requirements, existing capacity, data management, synthesis and product development. The group will use the output of this meeting to develop an international workshop (tentatively in the first half of 2022) that will allow the whole ocean carbon community to engage in the development of the strategy and implementation plan.
